A celebration of Saltburn Methodist

The final service in Saltburn’s 1905 Church was held on Saturday 10th February at 3pm, with the sale of the building due at the end of February.

There was a large congregation swelled by Saltburn residents, by people from around the Circuit and by many with connections to the Church returning for the occasion.

The service was led by Rev. Richard Sharples, the guest preacher was former minister Rev. Chris Eddy and reflections were given by members Paul Ballinger Howe, Liz Chadwick and Colin Vaux.

The organist for the service was Charles Knowles.

This was followed by plentiful refreshments in the 1865 building, where most church and community activities have been carried on for a long time. There were many meetings of old friends and much catching up.

While it was sad to say goodbye after nearly 120 years, Saltburn Methodist Church remains very much alive and we look forward to continuing our mission totally centred on the original building
